Suzanne Checkryn is a professional engineer with over 27 years of corporate leadership and project management experience in engineering, construction and consulting. She holds an MBA from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University and has completed a Certificate in Construction Law at York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School. Suzanne is also certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
Throughout her career, Suzanne has worked with major firms in the energy sector to complete complex projects on schedule and to overcome significant engineering and construction challenges. She has been involved in a wide variety of heavy industrial projects through engineering leadership, project management and director-level business development roles. This includes technical and project leadership roles on five multibillion-dollar projects with complex engineering, supply chain, construction, project controls, risk management and change management requirements.
Suzanne’s professional background demonstrates strong business acumen and a high focus on business development, contract negotiation, commercial management and project execution. In addition to managing construction planning and estimating activities for large projects, Suzanne also has extensive field experience working with owner companies, engineering firms, construction contractors and vendors.
At Revay, Suzanne is responsible for the firm’s Calgary office, which services Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. She has completed numerous mandates involving delay, loss of productivity, and cost quantification. She has authored project neutral reports and expert reports, and has been retained as expert for mediation, arbitration and litigation. Suzanne has provided expert testimony for arbitration.
